Design Law

Advice

Before registering a design, we develop a customized strategy.

Registration and Management

We register your designs both nationally (with the IPI) and internationally (with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva and/or via our associate firms abroad).

We enter the designs that are eligible for protection into our computerised design management system and notify you in good time of any deadlines (e.g. for extensions).

Deeds of Assignment, Licensing Agreements and Settlement Agreements

Designs can be assigned in Switzerland and abroad. We assist in both preparing and acquiring the necessary agreements and other documents whilst also ensuring that assignments are recorded in the relevant registers.

If a design is (also) to be used by third parties or if you wish to use the protected design belonging to a third party, we draw up the necessary licensing agreements.

Design disputes can often be resolved by reaching a settlement and we assist in negotiating these types of agreement.

Legal Disputes

If third parties infringe design rights or associated agreements or if you are alleged to have committed a corresponding infringement, we will litigate on your behalf before the public ordinary courts and at any arbitration tribunals. Our network of associates around the world enables us to coordinate international disputes.
